Hawthorn’s Emily Hurtz recalled to Hockeyroos for IFoH & Adelaide tests

2017 is proving to be a standout season for Hawthorn’s Emily Hurtz.

Her achievements are nothing short of outstanding.

Here are some of the highlights:

  • Member of the HV Women’s Premier League premiership team (2014, 2016 & 2017)
  • Highest goal scorer in WPL (2016 & 2017)
  • WPL Best & Fairest (co-winner).
  • Viper of the Year
  • WPL All Star Team
  • Member of the victorious Vipers at the AHL
  • AHL Tournament Leading Goal Scorer (2015, 2016 & 2017)

The team announcement for the International Festival of Hockey and Adelaide Test Series against Japan is most complimentary of Hurtz’ recent track record.

Hurtz hasn’t played for the Hockeyroos since the 2014 World Cup but has 85 caps and 30 international goals to her name.

“Emily has been very impressive,” Hockeyroos coach Paul Gaudoin said. “She had an outstanding AHL. She’s been the top scorer for the last three AHLs, so she’s shown consistently that she can play.

“She’s keen to be involved. She’s a very good striker and we want to give her the opportunity.”
