MASTERS

Welcome to the Masters Section

Our mission is to promote and develop hockey as an inclusive sport where people of all ages, levels & backgrounds can take up and continue to enjoy field hockey as a sport. Our Masters Section provides an opportunity for beginners, intermediate and advanced players to participate year-round in winter and summer hockey.

Our goal is to encourage players to discover field hockey – see what a great game it is and how much fun it is to play in a social, supportive, and competitive atmosphere. We offer a social environment where we enjoy a beer, a laugh and putting our game face on when the whistle blows. There is plenty of space for everyone at every standard - so come along, make some friends and enjoy yourself.

Teams

In the 2023 winter season, we will field 8 masters teams:

Women's Masters

  • 35+A
  • 35+B
  • 45+

Men's Masters

  • 45B+
  • 50 (x 2)
  • 45D+
  • Monday Men's Open

Game Times

  • Women’s masters play on Wednesday nights
  • Men’s masters play on Monday nights ( Women are welcome to participate in Monday night masters)

Summer Masters

  • During the Summer season (October to March) we join with other clubs in the area and play a social competition made up of mixed teams of gender and skill level. It is a good, fun, social competition which enables those new to the sport to improve their skills and get a bit of coaching from the more experienced players.
  • If your kids have taken up the sport or you are new to Melbourne, whatever the reason, come down to Hawthorn and you will find a group of happy and friendly people enjoying weeknight hockey. Masters hockey fixtures are very family friendly, taking into account external commitments such as school and public holidays.

If you are interested in playing please contact the Women's Masters President, Carole Shanks, or the Men's Masters President, Warren Edney.
