Member Retention Policy

Member Protection involves:

  • Providing a safe and nurturing environment for all members of the sporting community.
  • Protecting members from harassment, abuse, discrimination and other inappropriate behaviour.
  • Providing education.
  • Promoting and modelling positive behaviour.
  • Compliance with relevant legislation, including Victorian Child Safe Regulations.

This policy covers officials, parents, administrators, spectators, volunteers and participants.

Hockey Victoria has recommended that affiliated clubs follow their guidelines to ensure full compliance with recommendations made by the a recent Royal Commission to the Legislation regarding Working With Children (effective August 1st 2017).

We therefore require all coaches, team managers, committee members and anyone else performing any role on behalf of the Hawthorn Hockey Club (HHC) to have a current, valid Working With Children (WWC) check (or equivalent). A WWC check is free and more information can be found here

When applying or if you already have a WWC, you will need to add Hawthorn Hockey Club as an organisation you volunteer for. The postal address is: PO BOX 7090, Hawthorn North VIC 3122. This will ensure that you and HHC satisfy compliance with the legislation. you can update your WWC organisation details here:

Please register your Working with Children Check, a Victorian Teachers registration or are an Emergency Services Victoria worker details with the Club so that we have a record for our compliance. A short form is available here.
