CLUB POLICY

Member Protection Policy

Member Protection involves:

  • Providing a safe and nurturing environment for all members of the sporting community.
  • Protecting members from harassment, abuse, discrimination and other inappropriate behaviour.
  • Providing education.
  • Promoting and modelling positive behaviour.
  • Compliance with relevant legislation, including Victorian Child Safe Regulations.

This policy covers officials, parents, administrators, spectators, volunteers and participants.

Hockey Victoria has recommended that affiliated clubs follow their guidelines to ensure full compliance with recommendations made by the Royal Commission to the Legislation regarding Working with Children Check (effective August 1 2017).

We require all coaches, team managers, committee members and anyone else performing any role on behalf of the Hawthorn Hockey Club (HHC) to have a current, valid Working with Children Check (WWCC), or equivalent.

A WWCC check is free and is quick to complete. When applying or if you already have a WWCC, you will need to add Hawthorn Hockey Club as a volunteer organisation. This will ensure that you and HHC satisfy compliance with the legislation. Update WWCC organisation details now.

The postal address is: PO BOX 7090, Hawthorn North VIC 3122.

Please register WWCC, a Victorian Teachers registration or are an Emergency Services Victoria worker details with the Club so that we have a record for our compliance.

Players and members must also ensure they comply with the National Hockey Code of Conduct Policy.

If you have any concerns please raise them with the Club President or The Member Protection Information Officer.
